A group of Foss Lampshade Studios, Inc. employees from 1927-28, including Leonard and Ruby Foss (third and fourth from left,
bottom row). Marc Foss, third generation president, states,"The key to this business is that
we were never bought and sold. Businesses that change hands get watered down and tend to fail because the philosophy of the
original owner has been forgotten."
Ever since Leonard R. Foss introduced his line of
sheepskin lampshades to America in 1929, they've been sharing the spotlight with a range of classic names in home furnishings,
like Thomas Molesworth, Gustav Stickley, Marcel Breuer, Queen Anne and Louis XVI. Indeed, our rawhide
shades reflect the kind of timeless design and craftsmanship that transcend generations of style. FOSSKIN.
A new name for the oldest line of rawhide shades in America.
Today Marc Foss proudly carries
on his grandfather's legacy of exacting standards that have made Foss lampshades an American standard. Our
rawhide shades reflect the kind of timeless design and craftsmanship that transcend generations of style.
Our sheepskin shades are a breed apart.
Each of our custom crafted lampshades is made with the highest quality
sheepskins available in the United States, to ensure maximum durability with minimum care. Unlike lower quality
lampshades that split without special tannery treatment, an occasional wipe with a damp cloth is all that needed to preserve
our rawhide shades in like-new condition for a lifetime.
